Wineskins & Oil Reserves
Jesus warned against putting new wine into old wineskins because old skins had already stretched. Fresh wine continued expanding during fermentation, and a brittle container could not handle the pressure. New wine required new capacity. There are times when we ask God for increase while refusing the transformation required to sustain it. “Lord, send more.”
But more requires capacity.
Abundant life is not frantic activity for Jesus. It is overflow from life with Jesus. Sin drains. Compromise leaks. Busyness burns reserves. But intimacy replenishes. Let God stretch the wineskin. Let Him remove old patterns that cannot carry the new thing. Then guard the oil. If God increases the pour, you want to have somewhere to put it. Make room. Keep oil in reserve. There may be more coming than you think.
Grounded In Faith
Father, prepare me to carry whatever You desire to pour into my life. Remove old patterns, compromises, and limitations that cannot sustain the new thing You are doing. Increase my capacity without decreasing my dependence upon You. Fill me continually with Your Spirit and teach me to guard the oil of intimacy. May every increase in my life produce greater obedience, humility, and Kingdom fruit. Amen.
