Isaiah 59:21

“As for Me,” says the LORD, “this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants.”

What spiritual treasure are you intentionally preserving and passing to the generations coming behind you?

The Axe Head

In 2 Kings 6, a young prophet lost a borrowed axe head in the Jordan River. He cried out because what had been entrusted to him had disappeared beneath the water. Elisha asked an important question. “Where did it fall?” Every generation receives something from the generation before it. Faith. Wisdom. Scripture. Testimony. Values. Sometimes we also inherit wounds, unhealthy patterns, and things that need to stop with us.

The question is not simply, “What did I inherit?” The better question is, “What will I hand down?” The fear of the Lord teaches us to recognize the sacred weight of stewardship. David understood generational promise. God told him that his house and kingdom would be established, and ultimately the Messiah would come through his lineage. David was living inside a story larger than himself. So are you.

What God places in your hands is not merely for you. Pass down the gold. Leave the chains.

Grounded In Faith

Father, teach me to steward well what You have placed in my hands. Show me what needs to be recovered and what must end with me. Give me holy reverence for the responsibility of influencing future generations. May faith, truth, courage, wisdom, and love flow through my life into those who follow. Let my legacy point beyond me and lead others directly to Jesus. Amen.
