Proverbs 4:23 NIV

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

Brew On This

Who is God highlighting as part of your “tribe,” the people who help guard the wellspring of your heart?

The Wellspring Within

Your heart is the headquarters of Heaven inside your life. Proverbs 4:23 isn’t a polite suggestion. It’s a Kingdom mandate. Everything God wants to release through you flows from the condition of your heart. If the wellspring is clean, the flow is powerful. If the wellspring is contaminated, everything downstream gets affected.

You need to understand this, friend: when the Bible calls your heart a wellspring, it means it’s a continual, God-designed source. A wellspring gushes. It overflows. It releases life wherever it goes. That means Heaven has placed a supernatural supply inside you that isn’t supposed to run dry when times get tough. But like any spring, its purity determines its power. What you allow into the deep places of your heart, including your thoughts, your agreements, and your identity, will either keep that flow clean or clog it up. Guarding your heart is about protecting the place where God’s life, purpose, and presence are actively flowing within you.

The enemy knows if he can wound your heart, he can mess with your decisions. Trauma, disappointment, and sudden dread show up without warning, and in those moments, you are vulnerable to making choices you wouldn’t normally make. That’s why you need a tribe, a supernatural family of believers full of faith and the Holy Spirit who can stand with you when the storm hits.

Kingdom community is a form of heart protection. When you surround yourself with people who guard their own hearts well, they help reinforce yours. Stewardship of the heart begins with recognizing that who you walk with influences what flows out of you.

Grounded In Faith

I guard my heart with diligence, surrounding myself with people who pursue goodness and the presence of God.

My heart is the place where King Jesus rules and reigns.

I will not isolate during the storms of life.

I will remain in community and be a wellspring of life to those in my tribe.
