Revelation 10:9-10
“So I went to the angel and said to him, ‘Give me the little book.’ And he said to me, ‘Take and eat it; and it will make your stomach bitter, but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth.’ Then I took the little book out of the angel’s hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter.”

Has there been a difficult season that later became one of the clearest revelations of God’s faithfulness in your life?

The Bitter and The Sweet
When Samuel poured oil over David’s head, it looked sweet. However, years of hiding in caves? That tasted bitter. The promises of God often arrive wrapped in both honey and hardship.
John experienced something similar on the Isle of Patmos. The angel handed him a little scroll and told him to eat it. It was sweet in his mouth but bitter in his stomach. God’s truth often feels exactly like that. Receiving the promise is exhilarating; walking through the process stretches every part of us.
David could have rushed the throne. Instead, he chose the slower road of trust. Every difficult season added another layer of revelation. Every delay uncovered another dimension of God’s character.
Don’t despise the bitter moments. They may be producing the sweetest revelation you’ve ever received. God isn’t simply writing a message for you. He’s writing one into you.
Grounded In Faith
Lord, thank You for speaking through both joyful seasons and difficult ones. Help me trust that every delay, every trial, and every victory is shaping me into someone who truly knows You. Give me eyes to recognize Your hand, even when the path is bittersweet. Amen.
