Crossing Jordan
David had crossed Jordan before. But this crossing was different. He had fled Jerusalem brokenhearted while his own son, Absalom, attempted to take the kingdom. David left the city weeping, barefoot, and uncertain about what would happen next. Now the king was coming home. There are crossings that take us away from something, and there are crossings that bring us back. Both require courage.
New beginnings aren’t always brand-new places. Sometimes God brings you back across an old river as a different person. David wasn’t the same man returning to Jerusalem.
Maybe you’re standing at one of those rivers. Don’t be afraid to cross. You don’t have to drag the previous season through the water with you. God specializes in resurrection territory. When something has reached its ending, He is perfectly capable of writing another beginning. Jordan isn’t just a boundary. Sometimes Jordan is an invitation.
Grounded In Faith
Father, give me courage to cross into the new thing You are doing. I release the pain, disappointment, and unnecessary weight of the last season. Let me carry forward wisdom without carrying bondage. Restore what You desire to restore and make me brave enough to begin again. Lead me across every Jordan and into Your purposes for my life. Amen.
