Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

Brew On This

Are you avoiding stillness, or are you allowing God to meet you and realign you in the pause?

Daily Devotional

The Pause

“Be still, and know that I am God.” That is not a suggestion—it’s an invitation to trust. David understood the power of Selah—the sacred pause. That is the heart of a King—one who knows when to move and when to be still.

In a world driven by noise and urgency, stillness feels unnatural. But kings don’t rush blindly—they pause intentionally. David wrote psalms filled with moments of reflection, where truth could settle deep into his soul. The pause is not wasted time—it is positioning time. In stillness, you remember who God is. In quiet, you realign your heart. In the pause, strength is renewed. David didn’t just fight battles—he sat in God’s presence. That’s where clarity came. That’s where identity was secured.

“Be still” means release control. Stop striving. Trust that God is working, even when you are not. The pause is not the end of movement—it’s preparation for it.

So don’t fear the quiet moments. Embrace them. Because sometimes the most powerful thing a king can do… is be still.

Grounded In Faith

Father, teach me to be still before You.

Quiet my heart and remove the pressure to strive.

Help me trust that You are God in every moment.

Like David, let me find strength and clarity in Your presence.

Use the pause to realign me, refresh me, and prepare me for what’s ahead.
