1 Kings 19:11

“The Lord was not in the wind… earthquake… fire… but in a gentle whisper.”

Brew On This

Am I missing God’s voice because I’m only expecting Him to speak through noise and not stillness?

Daily Devotional

The Mountain of Stillness

Elijah came to the mountain exhausted. He had just come out of a season of confrontation, victory, fear, and deep emotional depletion. And now, standing on the mountain, he was waiting for God to move the way he expected, through power, noise, and spectacle. But God did not come in the wind. Not in the earthquake. Not in the fire. God came in a whisper.

There are moments in every believer’s journey where God redefines how we recognize His presence. Elijah had to learn that not every move of God shakes the ground; some moves heal the heart.

The mountain of stillness is where God teaches us to listen again. It is where ambition quiets, fear settles, and the soul becomes sensitive to His voice. Kings learn this. David learned this in the quiet fields before the throne. Jesus modeled it in secluded places of prayer. And Elijah discovered it in a cave on a mountain.

Stillness is alignment. So the question becomes not “Where is God?” but rather: Are you listening?

Grounded In Faith

Father, quiet my heart so I can hear Your whisper. Remove distraction, fear, and noise from my spirit. Teach me to recognize Your presence in stillness. Like Elijah, let me learn that You are near even when everything is quiet. I choose to listen for Your voice today. Amen.

Pray-A-Latte

I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.
