Psalm 1:3

“He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season.”

Brew On This

If someone could examine only the fruit in the basket of your life, what would it tell them about where your roots are planted?

Daily Devotional

Fruit Basket

Fruit doesn’t appear overnight. Fruit grows. It takes roots, nourishment, time, pruning, and the right environment.

Psalm 1 gives us a beautiful picture of someone who is planted in the right place, a tree planted by rivers of water, bringing forth fruit in its season. Roots first. Fruit later. Don’t despise the root season. God may be developing something deep in you that will eventually produce something abundant through you. Deep roots help a tree stand when the storm comes. But harvest season also brings evaluation.

Eventually, we have to look inside the basket and ask: What have I been producing? What we continually produce reveals what we have been cultivating. God wants living fruit flowing from a life surrendered to Him. Let Him remove what doesn’t belong and cultivate what does.

Grounded In Faith

Father, plant me deeply beside the river of Your presence. Examine the fruit of my life and reveal anything unhealthy that has been growing within me. Prune every attitude, habit, desire, and relationship that hinders what You desire to produce. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
