Don’t Feed The Bears!

There are two appetites warring for your life—one formed in the flesh, the other awakened by the Spirit. One pulls you downward into momentary satisfaction that always fades. The other draws you upward into eternal fulfillment that only increases. 

Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness…” because He knows hunger is never neutral. What you crave will eventually govern what you become. 

The appetite of man is loud. It wants comfort without conviction, pleasure without purity, and gain without surrender. It feeds on what is temporary, but it always leaves the soul empty again. This appetite promises life but quietly produces death—slow, subtle, and unseen at first. 

But then there is the appetite of righteousness. It is holy hunger. It is the ache for God Himself. It is the deep craving for truth, presence, alignment, and obedience. This appetite does not drain you—it awakens you. It doesn’t weaken you—it strengthens you. It leads not to emptiness, but to overflowing life. 

And here is the divine mystery: God will not force-feed you righteousness. He awakens hunger. He stirs thirst. He calls your spirit to the table where only He can satisfy. The question is not whether you are hungry. The question is what you are hungry for. Because what you feed will eventually lead you.
