16 – The Love of God
“And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you…” Genesis 17:7 NKJV
Chosen by Covenant
You weren’t randomly picked. You were chosen by covenant. That means you’re not just part of a plan; you’re part of a promise. God’s covenant with Abraham wasn’t a one-time deal. It was a generational declaration of identity, inheritance, and divine favor. And through King Jesus, that covenant now includes you.
God didn’t choose Abraham because he was perfect. He chose him because He saw a heart willing to follow, to believe, and to trust. That’s the kind of heart God still chooses today. Covenant is not about convenience. It’s about commitment. It’s the “no matter what” mentality. It’s saying, “All I have is Yours, and all You have is mine, even if everything goes wrong.” That’s how God thinks, and He wants you to think that way too.
In Genesis 17:7, God says:
“I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you.” (NKJV)
That’s not just a promise. It’s a position. You are part of a royal lineage, sealed by divine promise. You are not forgotten. You are not forsaken. You are remembered because God remembers His covenant.
God is a covenant keeper, and He wants you to be the same. Let your “yes” be “yes” and your “no” be “no.” When you make a covenant, keep it, even if it’s painful. That’s integrity. That’s character. That’s reliability. And those are the qualities that build a real relationship with God.
