Change the Atmosphere

The word atmosphere comes from a 17th-century word, atmos, which means vapor or spirit. Then sphere means, of course, a circle or globe.  Your sphere is like your sphere of influence.  It has to do with the spirit of the world that you live in. The atmosphere. Within your general proximity, is there a good spirit, or is there a bad spirit in it?

The atmosphere is compatible with the spirit that has dominion over it. That’s why sometimes, you are around a person and you sense they have a bad spirit. Have you ever come across a town that has a bad spirit in it? When you’re in one town, then cross the border, and you start getting goosebumps. There’s a bad spirit there. It has to do with whatever has dominion over it.

It has to do with whether the people live according to the Kingdom of Heaven or the kingdom of hell. The spirit of a place is compatible with the thing, the person, or the kingdom that has dominion over it. So, the spirit manifests in the environment, it manifests in the culture, and it manifests in the atmosphere.

Because of that, there are holy places and unholy places; The word says,

Now whatever city or town you enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and stay there till you go out. And when you go into a household, greet it.  If the household is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.  And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet. Matthew 10:11-14

Jesus is saying, when you’re out doing Kingdom business, find the people who have been through some stuff, but are still faithful to Jesus. Who are the people out doing the Kingdom stuff who are in the trenches? Who are those people whose agenda is Heaven, and it’s not personal? He said He wants us to make our home base where people are walking in the Kingdom.
