Psalm 23:4
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me.”
Brew On This
Have you become so accustomed to fighting that God now has to teach you how to rest?
Daily Devotional
His Burden
Is Light
Warriors can become so accustomed to battle that peace feels suspicious. Even after the enemy leaves, the mind keeps fighting. The body stays braced. The heart waits for the next attack. But the Shepherd doesn’t only teach us how to fight. “He makes me to lie down in green pastures.” Sometimes sheep need help resting. So do warriors.
David walked through valleys where death seemed close enough to touch, yet his confidence wasn’t that he could defeat every shadow. It was this: God was with him. Death doesn’t get the final word. Fear doesn’t get the final word. The valley doesn’t get the final word. The Shepherd does. Maybe you’ve carried the sword long enough. Maybe today’s act of faith isn’t another battle. Maybe it’s rest.
Grounded In Faith
Good Shepherd, teach my soul to rest. Quiet the part of me that remains prepared for battles. You are not asking me to fight. Lead me beside still waters and restore what weariness has depleted. When I walk through dark valleys, remind me that Your presence is greater than every shadow. I put down my sword and place my trust in You. Amen.
Pray-A-Latte
You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.
