Isaiah 9:6–7
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given… and the government shall be upon His shoulders… Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end…”
Brew On This
In a day when fake news and doom scrolling are prevalent, whose reports are you believing?
Big Shoulders
In a world marked by instability, shifting leadership, and human agendas, God reveals a different kind of government — one that rests securely upon the shoulders of His Son. Isaiah’s prophecy declares that divine authority is not fragile, not temporary, and not subject to corruption. It is carried by Christ Himself.
The phrase “the government shall be upon His shoulders” speaks of responsibility, authority, and divine order. Jesus does not rule by force or fear; He governs with wisdom, justice, righteousness, and peace. His leadership is perfect because His nature is perfect.
Isaiah further says, “Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end.” Notice that government and peace are inseparable in God’s Kingdom. Where Christ truly rules, peace follows. Disorder leaves. Confusion bows. Anxiety gives way to stability. His order produces wholeness.
God’s perfect order is not merely global — it is personal. When we submit to His government, our lives begin to align. Priorities are clarified. Purpose is revealed. Obedience becomes the pathway through which His Kingdom is established in our hearts.
The throne described in this passage is founded on righteousness and justice. God’s order is not arbitrary; it is rooted in what is right. His rule restores what is broken and establishes what is true.
Today, the question is not whether Christ reigns — He does. The question is whether we are aligned with His reign. Every surrendered area of our lives becomes the territory where His perfect government increases.
Grounded In Faith
Father, today I surrender every part of my life to Your perfect rule.
Bring order where there is chaos, peace where there is unrest, and alignment where I have gone my own way.
Let Your Kingdom increase in me and teach me to walk in obedience and purpose. Reign in my heart, Lord Jesus. Amen.
