There’s a Story to the Glory

Leanna and I didn’t have much when we first got married. We couldn’t afford movie tickets, so we’d hop in the car and drive through the fancy neighborhoods nearby. We’d marvel at the rows of million-dollar homes, dreaming big and laughing loud. It was free entertainment, and we were rich in love and vision.

One day, we invited a friend to join us on one of our mansion tours. I thought he’d enjoy it, but his response caught me off guard. “I can’t go look at those houses,” he said. “It makes me sad.” I asked him why, and his answer stunned me: “Because it’s not fair.”

Now, hold up. That kind of thinking doesn’t come from Heaven. God doesn’t call us to envy; He calls us to celebrate. The Bible says, “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep” (Romans 12:15). That means when someone is blessed, we cheer them on.

Here’s the truth: you may see someone’s glory, but you don’t know their story. Those beautiful homes? Many were owned by doctors and surgeons who spent years in school, sacrificed time, money, and comfort, and worked hard to get where they were. There’s a price behind every promise, a process behind every promotion.

Jesus Himself paid the ultimate price, not for what He did wrong, but for what we did. That’s not fair. That’s grace. That’s love. That’s the story behind the glory of our salvation.

So instead of saying, “It’s not fair,” let’s say, “Thank You, Jesus.” Because He gave us what we could never earn. And now, we get to live a life full of joy, purpose, and blessing, not because it’s fair, but because He is so good.
