Eyes to See
David had eyes that noticed things. A shepherd looked into the night sky and saw the handiwork of God. A warrior looked at a giant and saw an uncircumcised Philistine defying the armies of the living God. A king looked at the Ark and saw something more valuable than a throne. David saw differently because revelation changes perspective.
You can look directly at something and still not truly see it. That’s why David prayed, “Open my eyes.” There are truths you can read a hundred times and then one morning the Holy Spirit illuminates the words and suddenly, there it is. Personal revelation doesn’t mean inventing private truth. Revelation happens when the Holy Spirit causes what God has already spoken to become alive and personal within us. David didn’t merely know about God. He knew Him and encountered Him personally.
Sometimes revelation arrives like lightning and sometimes it quietly dawns like morning. But once God opens your eyes, you can’t unsee what He’s shown you. There are wondrous things right in front of you. Look again.
Grounded In Faith
Father, open my eyes. Illuminate Your Word and teach me to recognize Your fingerprints throughout my life. Guard me from deception and anchor every revelation firmly in Your truth. Give me eyes that see beyond circumstances and ears that recognize Your voice. I don’t want information alone. I want to know You personally and walk in the light You reveal. Amen.
