The Watchtower
Waiting is difficult. Nobody really likes it. We want movement. We want answers. We want to know what’s coming and when it’s going to arrive. And when the waiting stretches on, it can begin to feel endless. But Scripture gives us another picture of waiting: the watchtower.
A watchman scans the horizon. He listens. He stays awake. He doesn’t know exactly when the messenger will appear or when the battle will begin. But he knows his responsibility is to remain watchful. That is the posture David learned. David spent a lot of his life waiting.

Waiting on God changes our posture. We stop staring at the clock and start watching the horizon. The watchtower gives you a Kingdom perspective. The situation may still be the same, but you aren’t seeing it from the same place. It’s believing that God doesn’t need our help to make it happen. The horizon is about to change. And when morning comes, we realize that God was faithful through every hour of the night.
Grounded In Faith
Father, teach me to wait with expectation instead of frustration. Keep me from forcing doors, manufacturing outcomes, or running ahead of You. Give me eyes to see Your movement and ears to recognize Your instruction. My expectation is not in circumstances or people; it is in You. Strengthen me on the watchtower until Your appointed time arrives. Amen.
