Ancient Landmarks
Some things are supposed to outlive us. David understood legacy. He spent his life fighting battles, establishing a kingdom, gathering resources, writing songs, and preparing for a temple he knew he would never build. That’s generational thinking. Our culture constantly asks, “What do I get?” Kingdom people ask, “What am I leaving?” Faith was never intended to stop with us.
Mark the places where God moved. Teach our children what He has done. Leave ancient landmarks saying, “God met us here.” The fear of the Lord produces this kind of thinking because reverence makes us aware that we’re participating in something much bigger than our own lifetime. Some prayers you’re praying may be answered through your children.
Don’t measure your life only by what you complete. Build something worth inheriting. Tell the stories. Mark the territory. Pass down the faith. Somebody is coming behind you.
Grounded In Faith
Father, teach me to live beyond my own lifetime. Let my obedience become inheritance for those coming behind me. Give me reverence for Your name and wisdom to build what future generations will need. Help me tell the stories of Your faithfulness, preserve what matters, and prepare the way well. May those who follow me know You more because I walked with You. Amen.
