Psalm 63:1

“O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You.”

Brew On This

Where have you been trying to satisfy a spiritual thirst with something that can never truly quench it?

Daily Devotional

Prayer River

David knew what thirst felt like. He knew physical thirst in wilderness places, but he also understood another thirst, the desperate longing of the human soul for God. The flesh is loud. It wants comfort now.

If we aren’t careful, we will spend our lives trying to satisfy spiritual thirst with natural water. David made enough mistakes to know where that road leads. Human strength eventually runs dry. But prayer takes us back to the River.

Prayer is where our flesh stops performing, and our spirit starts surrendering. It is where we stop telling God how capable we are and finally admit how desperately we need Him. David’s psalms prove you don’t have to sanitize your emotions before entering God’s presence. Prayer has a way of washing the dust of the battlefield off your soul. There is still a River whose streams make glad the city of God.

And thirsty people are still invited to drink.

Grounded In Faith

Father, I am thirsty for You.

Teach me to run toward Your presence instead of temporary substitutes.

Quiet the demands of my flesh and awaken deeper hunger for Your Spirit.

Let prayer become a river through every dry place in me. Wash away fear, striving, and distraction until my heart finds its satisfaction in You alone. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Pray-A-Latte

You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.
