Psalm 18:35
“Your gentleness has made me great.”
Brew On This
What small discipline might God be using today to prepare you for a much larger assignment tomorrow?
Daily Devotional
Target Practice
Out in the fields, protecting sheep from predators, David developed skills that probably seemed ordinary at the time. Nobody applauded. Nobody handed him a trophy for excellent sling work. But Heaven knew a giant was coming. Grace doesn’t eliminate preparation. Grace empowers it.
Sometimes we misunderstand God’s grace as permission to remain unprepared. David shows us something different. God provided the opportunity, the courage, the calling, and the victory, but David still knew how to sling the stone. What are you practicing today that God may use tomorrow?
Obedience in small things is target practice for larger assignments. And here is the beautiful part: you don’t have to hit every target perfectly while you’re learning. The shepherd boy missed plenty of targets before he ever faced Goliath. But when the moment arrived, preparation and grace met opportunity. Don’t despise today’s small target. You have no idea what tomorrow’s practice is preparing you to face.
Grounded In Faith
Father, thank You for grace that teaches me while I grow.
Help me become faithful in small things and disciplined when nobody is watching.
Develop the gifts You have placed within me and correct my aim when necessary.
Prepare my hands for what is ahead and keep my heart dependent upon You.
May preparation and grace meet purpose in my life. Amen.
Pray-A-Latte
You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.
