Mantle and the Making
A mantle is not simply a position; it is a responsibility to carry what God has entrusted to you. It is Kingdom authority in the making. David was given that mantle long before he ever sat on the throne. David knew something had been placed upon his life, but he also had to learn how to carry it. God often gives the mantle and then sends us back to the pasture. Why? Because anointing can happen in a moment. Character takes time.
Sometimes faith looks less like moving forward and more like staying faithful where you are. Before God increases our influence, He often increases our capacity to carry it. So, perhaps we don’t have to despise the pasture or resent the cave. We don’t have to assume that because we’re not where we’re going yet, God isn’t doing something important.
The oil was poured in a moment. The man who could carry the mantle was formed over time. God knows what He has placed upon your life, and He also knows what needs to be formed within you. We can trust the One who gives the mantle.
Grounded In Faith
Father, prepare me to carry whatever You place upon my life.
Develop my character before expanding my influence.
Keep me from forcing doors You have not opened or grabbing what You have promised to give.
Complete Your work in me.
May I carry every assignment with humility, courage, wisdom, and honor before You. Amen.
