1 John 3:1
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!”
Brew On This
Am I living like someone trying to earn love or like a child already fully embraced by a lavish Father?
Daily Devotional
Lavish—
Love Beyond Measure
There is a love that does not measure carefully, calculate worth, or distribute based on performance. It is lavish, overflowing, and excessive by human standards, and undeserved in every human account.
King David understood something about this. He knew his own story, his failures, his missteps, and his moments of weakness, and yet he also knew the overwhelming mercy of God. David didn’t celebrate his victories; he celebrated God’s lavish mercy.
A king after God’s heart doesn’t stand in pride; he stands in awe. David lived aware that what he had been given was not earned. It was given, grace upon grace, mercy upon mercy, and love without limit. When you begin to see His love clearly, striving breaks, shame loses its authority, and identity as a son of the Father becomes secure.
Grounded In Faith
Father, thank You for Your lavish love that I could never earn. Teach my heart to worship from gratitude instead of striving. Break off shame and insecurity, and root me in my identity as Your child. Let me live fully embraced, fully forgiven, and fully loved. Amen.
Pray-A-Latte
I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.
