Matthew 6:5

“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites… they love to pray standing in the synagogues…”

Brew On This

Am I praying to be seen by people—or to be known by God?

Daily Devotional

The Secret Place of a King

Jesus begins by exposing something hidden in the human heart—the desire to be seen rather than to be known by God. In the Kingdom, visibility is not the goal—intimacy is.

David was a man who knew both fields and thrones, but his strength was not formed in the palace—it was formed in the secret place. Before he ever carried a crown, he carried worship. Before he ruled men, he knelt before God.

Jesus calls us back to this hidden life. Not to abandon public faith, but to anchor it in private devotion. Because what happens in secret determines what carries weight in public. God is not impressed by noise—He is moved by nearness.

The secret place is where identity is formed, strength is renewed, and voices of distraction are silenced. It is where kings are made. You do not rise in the Kingdom by being seen—you rise by being found faithful where no one is watching. There is an invitation right back to the heart of God, the secret place where there is revelation, love, and grace.

Grounded In Faith

Father, draw me back to the secret place.

Remove every desire for performance and replace it with hunger for Your presence.

Teach me to pray like David—hidden yet powerful, private yet deeply connected to You.

Form me into a faithful king in the unseen place. Amen.
