Psalm 73:28
“But as for me, it is good to be near God…”
Brew On This
Am I striving to get closer to God, or resting in the truth that I already belong to Him?

Near
David knew what it meant to be pursued by enemies, misunderstood by people, and hidden in places that felt forgotten. Yet in every season—cave or victory, wilderness or throne—he discovered a greater reality: God was not distant. God was near.
This is the mystery of perfect completion in Him. Not partial belonging. Not distant hope. But finished closeness. In Christ, nothing is lacking that striving can complete. We are not working our way into nearness—we are invited to live from it.
Redemption is not just rescue from sin; it is the restoration of identity. It is the spirit of adoption. The same Spirit that cries out “Abba, Father” declares you are not orphaned, not abandoned, not on the outside looking in. You are brought near. You are held. You are home.
Even when David wrestled with confusion and comparison, his heart returned to this anchor: God’s nearness. That is the heart of a king—not perfection through effort, but security through relationship. Friend, the invitation is simple: stop striving, start abiding. You are a son or daughter living in perfect completion in Him.
Grounded In Faith
Father, thank You for the spirit of adoption.
In Christ, I am complete and made near.
Teach my heart to rest in Your presence and live from intimacy, not effort.
I receive Your nearness today.
I am Yours, fully and forever. Amen.
