THE GIFT OF OVERCOMING DEATH
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. James 1:17 NKJV
When the Bible says that every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of Lights, you need to know this. The Father is the giver. That’s number one. The Father is the giving side of God. Everybody thinks it’s Jesus. We have this weird concept in the body of Jesus that God the Father is really stern, Jesus is kind of a hippie, and the Holy Spirit is like Tigger, the tiger. None of that’s actually true at all. In fact, the Father is the great giver. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. He is the giver. Whenever we see this here, we can know that every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of Lights. There is no other gift that could possibly be greater than the gift of eternal life with God. The only way that could have happened was for the Father to give His Son to be sacrificed so we could be redeemed.
Then he says, He’s not in and out; there is no variableness, neither is there any shadow or turning. He’s not different from one moment to the next. God, the Giver, is always willing to give. God the Giver is always, always, always standing there with His hand out to give. That’s God the Giver, that is God the Father.
The great principle and the reality is that everything that God has, He’s willing to give to us. But we have to understand that the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it. So, if He wants to give us everything, or if we’re ever going to get into a place where we can actually receive that, we have to be the kind of people that understand it’s Him that owns everything. It’s His to give. It’s actually the Father’s to give away because He actually owns everything.
He chose to give His Son because He loves those who will come to Him and become His children.
Declaration: Heaven is my destination because Jesus is my Lord. My Father has blessed me with an abundant life, and today, I will sing of His Glorious Love.
