Psalm 16:11

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Brew On This

How can I surrender more of my heart and be in the right posture to dwell in His Presence?

The Cool of the Day

There is something sacred about the cool of the day. It is the hour when the noise quiets, when the sun softens its strength, and the soul can finally breathe. Scripture tells us that God walked with humanity in the garden in the cool of the day—not as a distant ruler, but as a present Companion. Before striving, before hiding, before fear entered the story, there was walking with God.

King David understood this kind of longing. David was a warrior, a King, a poet, and a man acquainted with both victory and failure. Yet more than crowns or conquests, David wanted God’s presence. His heart ached not for power, but for proximity. “One thing I ask of the Lord,” he wrote, “this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.” Not success. Not safety. Not even triumph over enemies—just God.

Like the garden walk, David’s desire was relational, not transactional. He did not seek God only for answers or rescue, but because being near God was life itself. When David fled into wilderness places, when he hid in caves, when his kingdom trembled, his greatest sorrow was never the loss of comfort—it was the fear of losing God’s presence. “Do not cast me from Your presence,” he pleaded. That prayer reveals a man who knew that without God, even a throne is empty.

David met God in songs written under open skies, in tears spilled on stone floors, in quiet trust after loud mistakes. He discovered what the garden once knew—that God longs to walk with His people, not ahead of them, not behind them, but beside them. God is still walking. The day still cools. And He still desires to be close.

Walking with God in the cool of the day is an invitation to that same closeness. It is choosing presence over performance. It is letting God meet us where the heat of the day has passed—after striving, after battle, after failure. It is where masks fall away and honesty rises. Where God asks, not because He does not know, but because He desires communion: Where are you?

Grounded In Faith

Father God, I return to closeness with You and release every mindset of performance and striving.

I declare that I was created for communion. I choose Your presence over performance.

Order my life and let everything I do flow from abiding in Your love.

Dear Lord, return me to what I was made for-set me apart for your purposes. Amen.
