2 Chronicles 7:1
“When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the temple.”
Brew On This
Are you asking God to send His fire into areas of your life you have not actually surrendered to Him?
Daily Devotional
Fire Fall
There is fire that destroys, and there is fire that reveals the presence of God. Moses saw it in a bush that burned without being consumed. Elijah saw it fall on Mount Carmel. Solomon saw it descend when the temple was dedicated. The disciples experienced tongues like fire when the Holy Spirit filled the upper room. When God manifests His presence, things change. The fire of God exposes what is false, ignites what has grown cold, and brings light into places we have allowed to become dark. But before the fire fell on Solomon’s altar, something had already been placed there.
Sacrifice. We sometimes want the fire without the altar. We ask God to move powerfully while keeping every comfortable part of our lives carefully protected. Yet throughout Scripture, fire and surrender keep meeting each other. Romans tells us to present our bodies as living sacrifices. That means the altar is not merely a place we visit. Our lives become the offering.
So build the altar. Bring the sacrifice. Ask God to ignite everything in you that has grown cold then Let the Fire fall.
Grounded In Faith
Holy Spirit, set my heart on fire for Jesus. I place my plans, gifts, ambitions, relationships, and future upon Your altar. Consume everything in me that does not honor You. Awaken what has grown cold and illuminate what has remained hidden. Let Your presence transform me rather than simply impress me. Fill me with power to love, serve, obey, and boldly glorify Jesus everywhere You send me. Amen.
