Lay It Down
The abundant life isn’t found by carrying more. It’s discovered by surrendering more.
Before David ever faced Goliath, he faced another challenge, the temptation to fight someone else’s way. Saul clothed him in armor that looked impressive. It was polished, proven, and fit for a king. But it wasn’t made for David. After only a few moments, David laid it aside because he recognized that what looked like protection had become a burden.
Not everything that looks impressive is of God. Sometimes a false burden will disguise itself as responsibility. We carry old wounds long after Jesus has offered healing. We wear labels that God never gave us. The weight becomes so familiar that we mistake it for part of who we are.
Jesus never called us to carry what He died to remove. He lovingly says, “Lay it down.” Freedom begins where surrender begins.
Grounded In Faith
Father, today I choose freedom. I surrender every burden, every fear, and every weight that keeps me from following You wholeheartedly. Thank You that Jesus broke every chain. Teach me to walk in the abundant life You have prepared for me. Amen.
