Come to
the Table
When the prophet Samuel arrived to anoint Israel’s next king, David wasn’t even called in from the fields. Others were seen. Others were considered. Yet while men looked at appearances, God looked at the heart. Years later, David sat upon the throne of Israel.
He had experienced victory, favor, and the faithfulness of God. Yet he never forgot the covenant he had made with his beloved friend
Jonathan. One day, David asked, “Is there anyone left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness?” The search led him to Mephibosheth, a man crippled in both feet, living in obscurity, carrying the shame of a fallen family line.
Yet David invited him because of covenant.
Grace always works that way. Just like that,
Jesus has prepared a place for us, not because we earned it, deserved it, or could repay it, but
because of His great love. The invitation is not based on our performance. It is based on His covenant.
Come to the table, the King is expecting you.
Grounded In Faith
Lord Jesus, Thank You for inviting me to Your table. Thank You that Your love is not based on my performance, my past, or my ability to earn Your favor. Thank You for making room
for me through Your grace. Today, I choose to leave behind shame, fear, and every lie that says I do not belong. Help me receive the mercy You freely offer and rest in the covenant You have established through Your Son.
