“Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward…” 1 Samuel 16:13 NKJV
The Anointing Finds You
David didn’t chase the anointing. The anointing chased him. When your heart is right, the oil flows. You don’t have to force doors open; God opens them when the time is right. Stay faithful, and the anointing will find you.
Just as God anointed leaders like David for specific purposes in advancing His Kingdom, we too are called to understand the significance of His anointing in our lives. The anointing is about our assignment and not our elevation.
The distinction between Saul and David teaches us this truth. Saul was anointed but misunderstood the purpose. He saw it as personal gain, a crown to wear instead of a calling to steward. David, on the other hand, understood that the anointing was about God’s glory, not his own. His life was marked by covenant, obedience, and a deep reverence for God’s presence.
The anointing doesn’t come to the ambitious. It comes to the available. When you remain steadfast, surrendered, and faithful in the hidden places, the oil will find you. You don’t need to chase platforms or titles. Heaven knows your name. The anointing will locate you when your heart is aligned with the heart of the Father.
Let us declare our commitment to mirror the heart of David. May we see God’s anointing as a call to advance His Kingdom, valuing His presence above all else. True anointing is not for personal gain but for the glory of God, and it involves a covenant that lasts beyond our lifetime.
