He’s Here and He’s Coming Back

Nearly twice as much has been written in the Bible about the second coming of Jesus and the narrative we need to understand as there has been about the first coming of Jesus and the narrative they needed to understand.

Daniel gave the timeframe for the first appearance of the Lord. He told how many years until it would happen, and he gave a very certain, narrow window of time. The appearance and the timing of Jesus showed up according to the prophecy that Daniel spelled out.

The reason for the confusion was that one part of the Bible stated He would be called a Nazarene. Then, another part of the Bible said that He would come up out of Egypt. Another part of the Bible said that He was going to be born in Bethlehem. It was not that there was not enough written. It was that there was so much written, and much of it seemed to contradict itself.

Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem. They fled to Egypt; then, when he was about 12 years old, they returned from Egypt. He then grew up in Nazareth. He fulfilled it all. Nobody could predict or understand exactly how all those details happened.  Exactly like that, nobody can predict exactly how all the details will be fulfilled when it comes to the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Reflecting on the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, it is good to see that God has prophesied about His return like He did about His first coming. He is coming back.

God loved us so much that He sent Him to us; and He loves us so much, He is sending Him back to judge the living and the dead, to defeat evil, and to reign as King forever. It’s a promise of hope, justice, and the fulfillment of God’s eternal covenant with His people. Jesus will return to bring the fullness of God’s glory and to gather His followers into eternal fellowship with Him.
