The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,
and he who wins souls is wise. Proverbs 11:30 NKJV
Abound In Thankfulness
Being thankful is a big deal in the Kingdom. These Scriptures are some of the ones I think teach us how important it is:
“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.” Romans 1:20-21
There is a timeline here. This means that when you know God and have an encounter with Him, you don’t stop and give Him glory because you’re more aware of what you don’t have than what He has given you. I see this in the world a lot. Instead of seeing the good Kingdom things we have, we only see the shiny things of the world that we think we want. Look at this progressive timeline:
- Number one – you have an encounter with God, but you don’t glorify Him. In other words, you are not in the position of a worshipper; you’re in the position of a receiver.
- Number two – The next step is that because you don’t glorify Him, you’re not going to be thankful to Him.
- Number three – You’re going to start to think stuff that is not Kingdom thoughts, you’ll become vain within your own imaginations
- Number four – Your foolish heart will become darkened; the heart of unbelief goes to some really dark places.
- Number five – Then you’re going to tell everybody that you’ve got God figured out – and you will be completely faithless and professing yourself to be wise, you will become a fool.
“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7
Let the words of Paul open your eyes. If you have Jesus, let your faith abound in thanksgiving! Where would you be without Him?!
Grounded in Faith
Declare!
It is such an honor to have received Christ Jesus as my Lord. I am humbled by what He did, so I can be forgiven and free from the bondage of sin. I want my life to bring Him glory, so I press in to follow Him, and I worship Him because of the great things He has done!
