Time to Build with Him

As a pastor, the most important job I have is to be the architect of the culture of the house. To make sure the way we do things and relate to each other looks more like Heaven than hell.

We make a big deal out of serving the poor, even if they will never come to our church. We make a big deal out of healing, hearing the voice of God, and prophetic things. Relationships and kindness are also big deals to us here at OpenDoor.

You see, if our culture is toxic, it doesn’t matter how much I know about the Bible, how good a preacher I am, or that I give a salvation call every Sunday.

I don’t believe God moves through a church service. I think God moves through the relationships of the people within the church service. We can’t give the atmosphere to the enemy; he desperately wants it!

“…in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience…” Ephesians 2:2

Satan is called the “prince of the power of the air” for a reason. He wants to control the atmosphere and fill it with anger, discord, disobedience, and lies so he can raise up a mob to crush you. That’s why Jesus is called the “Prince of Peace.” If you want the Prince of Peace to show up in the midst of your mess, do this:

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”– Philippians 4:8-9

If you want to change the atmosphere, change your thinking. Think on Godly things and be the architect of your house, your office, car, marriage, friendships – your everything!
