Holy Fear of God
God is teaching you not to fear. Perfect love casts out fear and makes room for His presence in a greater way. Receive it and walk in it today.
One of my favorite songs was written by my good friend Pauline Jordan. On the word that her father would certainly die from a heart attack, the Lord gave her another word that said, “It’s not that big of a deal.” The goodness of God overcame the evil of the heart attack, and the song “Paper Tiger” was born. That’s what the devil is – a paper tiger. It turns out he isn’t all that scary after all. However, we give him power in our lives by fearing him.
Under the cloak of darkness and left up to your imagination, he is a roaring lion, stalking you with hopes of devouring you. Did you know he can only devour you if you give in to fear and give him permission to eat you for lunch?
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. – 1 Peter 5:8
Is he a roaring lion? No. Can he devour you? Only if you let him, hence the word “may.” So don’t let him. You know God is more powerful than Satan, or as Junior Asparagus of Veggie Tales fame so eloquently puts it, “God is bigger than the boogeyman.”
Grounded in Faith
Declare!
I know my Savior loves me enough to die for me. His perfect love reassures me and gives me courage. I silence the devil when he tries to scare me. He does not have any permission to attack me, my family, or my friends. Jesus is Lord of my life, and He keeps me safe. I have a Holy reverence for God and want to walk with Him in His ways.
