FATHER TO THE FATHERLESS
Thus says the Lord: “Execute judgment and righteousness and deliver the plundered out of the hand of the oppressor. Do no wrong and do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place.” – Jeremiah 22:3 NKJV
In the natural, orphans are easy to spot. They are the stranger alone in a new place. They are the homeless on the street. The isolated, lonely widow and the innocent without protection are also seen by God as being “fatherless.” Scripture repeatedly says to champion these people because a very good God cannot stand the thought of one of His kids—especially you—feeling fatherless. It pains Him, so it should pain you and I as well.
In this verse from Jeremiah, the Father calls these people “plundered” which is a picture of something precious being stolen by a cruel enemy during a battle. The orphan has literally been plundered from God by this demonic principality. Make no mistake, the Father wants them—and you—back in right standing.
In the spiritual, the fatherless are not as easy to recognize. They look like they have it all together, but their words are their dead giveaway. Where have you heard the following?
The Voice of the Orphan Spirit says: “Them… They… Those people… Everybody… Nobody…” “Nobody greeted me. Nobody said hello.” “They didn’t call me. I wasn’t invited.” “They don’t like me. I’ll never fit in.” “They don’t see me. I’m invisible to them.” “Nobody understands me. They think I’m too…” “I can’t trust others. I can only trust myself.” “God doesn’t love me. Too many bad things happen to me.”
What is the common thread in these statements? Lack of responsibility for outcomes. The old adage that “if you want to have friends, be a friend” is true. If you want to be seen and accepted, see and accept others. If you want to be understood, appreciated, invited or part of the team, break the curse of the Orphan Spirit by extending these things to others. Refuse to be offended if the trust and love you offer is not returned. Remember, the person you are trying to reach may be suffering from the very same abandonment issues that you are. It’s time to break the cycle. Believe Him. He chose us to be holy, without blame and predestined us to be His children.
Declaration: God has revealed to me that I am chosen by the Lord Most High. He created me on purpose for a purpose because He loves me. I seek His presence so I can grow to be more like my Father every day. His love flows through me into those on the path with me so that I can be a good, grace-filled friend.
