THE CITY THAT MISSED ITS MIRACLE
If God did an awesome miracle, I’m talking about the kind of miracle that would change your life or even change the world around you, do you think that you would know it? Not if you’re too busy.
Case in point is the city of Bethlehem. The little town of Bethlehem had only several hundred people living there then. Imagine the shock Joseph must have felt returning there. He topped that last hill with his young bride Mary, looked down on the town he knew and found, not a small town of “Mayberry”, but thousands of people.
Roman census and taxation was happening, so they had to take their wealth which meant there were 100’s of sheep or goats. They were looking for a place for themselves and their animals to stay in Bethlehem, What a mess! No one wanted to be there. The Roman soldiers hated every minute of it and took out their frustrations on them. Too many people crammed into those closest to them. Too small a place, for too long of a time.
If thousands of people were there, where are these people in Scripture? How come we only see a handful of people privy to the miracle birth of Jesus Christ?
They were there and were clueless about the miracle. They were walking right past and living side-by-side to the greatest miracle the world had ever seen. They missed the miracles going on around them not because they hated God or were bad people. They missed the miracles because they were too caught up in the day-to-day busyness of life to be able to see that they were living in a special day of miracles.
Now, more things happen in one day than used to happen in an entire generation. Right now, there are people in a running battle for their lives, while in another country there are people kicked back on the sofa with a remote in their hand.
These are no ordinary days! These are the Last Days, and with Jesus coming again soon, these are the days of miracles. Don’t miss yours.
Declaration: Life comes at us fast, but God is a steadfast creator who is faithful to keep His promises. I believe He has given me the miracle of salvation, the miracle of His Love, and that fills me with wonder and awe. I celebrate that I have His presence with me and my heart fills with love for my Savior. My sight is focused on Him, I don’t want to miss a thing!
