REPENTANCE BRINGS REST
Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. Hebrews 12:15 NLT
When there is a root of bitterness, it poisons our lives and robs us of peace and the joy Jesus wants us to have. Repent from holding on to that bitter root.
The Hebrew word for repentance is Teshuvah, and it literally means return to Hey, return to the five. When John the Baptist says, “Repent,” we translate that from the Greek. Of course, he was saying that in Hebrew. Translated from Hebrew into English, repent is the phrase, return to five. In other words—return to the grace of God. Return to the five. Return to the hey. Listen, you are off track, man. Return to the hey.
This is a time of adding a hey to every single part of your life and saying, “I’m going to prioritize King Jesus in this area of my life. I’m going to prioritize Him. I am going to remember the Lord in this area of my life. Lord, I am returning to the five as your Word declares. And God, I am not really sure what all that means, except for this, I am intentionally trying to add You to this problem.” This is the time of year that you do that. God shows up and changes things when you do. Doesn’t that make you want to do that?
Before their names became Sarah and Abraham, their names were Sarai and Abram. God changed their names by adding Hey to both of them. When He added the hey to them, it changed their name to Sarah and Abraham, and they became fruitful.
When you add the hey, or whenever you prioritize God in the midst of your repentance and say, Lord, “The way I have been isn’t lined up with You, and I’m ready, Sir, to make this all about You. I’m going to add the hey. I’m going to return to God Almighty being my God.” Do you know what He does? He shows up and tells you He is going to multiply things. You may reply that you think that is impossible. He will show you that it isn’t.
Declaration: I have decided to stop letting the root of bitterness poison my life and kill off my blessings. I invite God Almighty into every situation in my life and let His Words, His ways, and His will make my life fruitful. I know He wants everything to be changed and aligned to His will for me. Nothing is impossible for Him.
