WHERE IS YOUR FAITH?
Whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:4-5 NKJV
Where is your faith? Have you placed it fully on God? Is your faith in the power, protection, and love of Jesus that is the life-giving force in you? Or is your faith in the set of circumstances that have overwhelmed you? Is your faith placed on the lies, labels, and limitations that have followed you from your past?
Here is the scriptural principle for folks who tend to think things are never going to get any better: Knowing the promises of God for your life is the answer to depression or the thinking pattern of “things will never get better.”
You cannot buy into that lie if you are hanging onto very specific promises. You need hope. You need God to whisper some promises into your life. You need to hang onto those promises and refuse to believe your situation is not going to get better. If you are following God, you are following Him into better places. Maybe things are not getting easier, but things are definitely getting better. Easier is never better. Better is also harder. Don’t confuse the two.
Don’t look for something easier. Look for something better. Don’t think things will never get better. Know the promises of God for your life and say to hell with the devil who says nothing is going to get better.
What promises do you hold onto when the devil begins to whisper his lies? Do you have what I call “an inventory of hope?” If you don’t, how can you seek God for His promises? I encourage you to have a God-given list of promises that the Lord has given you in your times of radically seeking Him. Write them down, hang onto them, profess them, and stand on them. Things are getting better, and the spirit of depression can be ordered to leave. Your doomsday is not inevitable. Jesus is alive!
Declaration: Jesus has given me hope, so I place my faith fully in Him. He is better than anything that has ever been in my life. He is The One who loves me radically. I follow Him as He leads me. I may not see what is up ahead, but I know who is with me, and my faith is in Him. My heart and my mind are filled with God’s promises, so there is no room for negative thoughts to come in. The joy of my salvation flows out into all my life.
