VICTORY OVER BACKSLIDING

We must trust in the heart of God and in the power of His grace. We must discover that He is not prepared to punish us for mistakes in moving forward. He is prepared to pick us up. God is passionate about our progression. He has a much higher value for our personal growth than He does for our punishment. 

I will heal their backsliding; I will love them freely, for My anger is turned away from them. Hosea 14:4 NKJV 

Since He made you to be a warrior, He knows that if you don’t fight forward, you will fight for what does not matter. He says to you the same thing He said to Joshua three different times when He commanded him to move forward into the Promised Land: “Fear Not!” 

When we are afraid to move from where we are, we will settle for something that “used to be,” rather than what could be. The fight for what once was is a fight for something that is irrelevant and insignificant. It’s the wrong fight to be in. 

Whatever used to be a long time ago, religion likes to call that “Godliness.” We must resist the Amish-like temptation to canonize an era if we are going to tap into how God is moving today, and He is moving today. 

When you keep your head stuck in the sands of the past, you will never move forward.  An alternative to glorifying an era and a proper view of the past is to see how great God is in the past. When you look for Jesus in your past, you learn to see Him in your present. 

Declaration:  The past does not hold my glory.  Christ in me is my only hope of glory.  Because He lives in me, I look toward the future with hope, joy, excitement, and peace that I have because I know His goodness.  He has a good day created for me today; I will go forward and find it and use it to share His goodness with others.
