LIVING THE LIFE
Back when I was in prison ministry, I had been giving away little Bibles and found out they were using the super-thin pages for rolling paper. So, I began to make them promise that they wouldn’t
“I can’t do it, Pastor.” a brave young man told me. “I’m bad addicted to smoking, and I ain’t gonna lie to you.”
“Okay,” I told him. “If you promise me you will read this before you use it, I will still give it to you as long as you promise me you will read every single word and read it out loud.”
He said, “Yes, Sir. I promise.”
I told him to smoke his way through the Book of John and read the red letters.
I often pray for that young man, that God Almighty met him in his cell and changed his life, that instead of being bound by an addiction to cigarettes, he was delivered and experienced the abundant life that King Jesus laid down for us to have. Grace meets us all wherever we are, but it doesn’t leave us the way it finds us.
As we begin to walk with God Almighty, we begin to lay down our lives as we take up our Cross and follow after Jesus Christ. It’s a privilege! We become more and more like our Father, and less and less like this world that has a hold on us!
Declaration: I will take up my cross daily and follow after King Jesus!
