Matthew 4:17 (NKJV): From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
THE KINGDOM IS AT HAND
The arrival of Jesus brought forth a new understanding of what it meant to relate to God the Father and His Kingdom. At His birth, Jesus announced that “God is with us” – Matthew 1:23 NKJV, “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” With His prayer, He declared we are to address God Almighty as our Father, Matthew 6:9 NKJV, “In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.” And at the end of His life, in John 19:30 He proclaimed that “It is finished.”
Our Lord Jesus Christ wanted us to understand that God the Father has drawn near to His people. It’s His goodness that draws us into repentance, drawing closer to Him. Along with the new covenant, the new wine that Jesus preached, came access to the Father and His Kingdom in a brand new way.
Now, following in the steps of Jesus, the Firstborn among many brethren, we can seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness. Knowing that when we seek, we will find. When we ask, it will be given to us, and when we knock, the door opens to us. We’ve got a good Father, and it’s His good pleasure to give us the Kingdom!
Declaration: Father, I will draw near to You because You have drawn near to me. I choose to live in faith and confidence that Your promises to me and my family are Yes, and amen. Thank You for open access to the Kingdom! Lead me to be a catalyst for things on earth to look a lot more like heaven than they look like hell. In Jesus’ name, amen!
