GENERATIONAL BLESSINGS

God Almighty promised Abraham to bless those who bless him. We see this promise passed down through generations because Abraham became the father of many nations. This ultimate blessing is King Jesus himself. He was the promised seed of Abraham, born through Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Israel. It takes hard work to be blessed and to stay blessed. Deuteronomy 28 gives us six “the LORD will/shall” statements, which describe what the LORD would do to ensure these blessings. Israel’s part was to obey the commands of the covenant. Deuteronomy 28:2-9 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God: “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country. “Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks. “Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. “Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. “The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways. “The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you. “The Lord will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways. There’s a difference between obeying the voice and observation of the commandments. Obedience to the voice is devotion to your relationship and intimacy with God. Observing His commandments means compliance and loyalty to the culture of His Kingdom. The term for God’s favor, blessing, and presence in your life is seen by other people to the point where they cannot deny God is with you if His face shines upon you. Psalms 67:1 God be merciful to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us, Selah. Declaration: I consecrate myself today to the Lord that He may bestow upon me a blessing this day. I trust that God will bless my obedience to His commandments. I will focus on God so His light will shine through me.From My Book: Numbers That Preach
