Luke 12:9 (NKJV) – “But he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God.”

The Passion Translation says, “But if you publicly pretend that you don’t know me, I will deny you before the angels of God.” King Jesus! That’s not going to be you and I. You and I are going to remain loyal to King Jesus whatever the cost.

Declaration: Father God, Sir, I declare that I will do all the things You ask of me that I may honor You and glorify You before all mankind! In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Stephen set a powerful precedent as the first martyr in the book of Acts. Even Paul the Apostle, who was a part of Stephen’s stoning before he was a drop-dead-sold-out-Jesus-freak, said, “From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep; in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fasting often, in cold and nakedness.”

All for King Jesus. No matter the cost, the price we pay down here is nothing compared to the victory and reward we will experience when we step into eternity. Jesus was straightforward with us in saying, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow MeIf the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.” (Luke 12:9 & John 15:18)

Yet, He didn’t leave us hanging there. He assures those of us who love Him that if we keep the faith and determine to be more than conquerors in this antichrist world system, then we will reap the rewards of overcomers that He declares in the book of Revelation. There are seventeen promises to those who overcome found in Revelation. Seventeen is the number that represents overcoming victory.

The 17th time the word “world” appears in the Bible is in 1 John 5:4: “Whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world.” That’s us, friends. As the born again children of God, we get to follow in the footsteps of King Jesus as victorious overcomers!

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NKJV
