Matthew 12:8 (NKJV) – “For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

Whatever failings I might have, one them won’t be because I refuse to get up and do something. Anything I do, I do it all the way. I’m about the Kingdom and my Father’s business! This is the time to go, go, go! And I’m all about it. I know how to find Jesus in the midst of that busy place.

But friends, I’m grateful for the times of rest. And I’m grateful that King Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath.

Declaration: Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath. He gives to His beloved sleep and rest. He restores my soul. My end is peace because I am the righteous and beloved of the Lord Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

LORD OF THE SABBATH

There is no part of the Kingdom of God that permits us to give the bare minimum. We’re constantly called on to lay down our life in a new way because we love King Jesus and His people. That means we feed people, we rescue kids, we’re going after our families for Jesus, we’re loving our spouses—busyness just comes with the package.

We’ve got stuff to do! Just like King Jesus, we’re about our Father’s business, and we’re supposed to be getting things done. However, we can’t forget to rest. God Almighty set the precedent when He rested on the seventh day of creation. Seven represents the Spirit of God. When we’re in a time or season of rest, we can expect to see the Spirit of God show up and be made manifest in our life in a way that restores and refreshes us.

The Lord of the Sabbath gives rest to His people. Rest isn’t limited to a single day of the week. We find rest for our souls in King Jesus whenever we approach Him. It’s great when we have the ability to physically get away and take a break, but when we can’t, we have to know how to find Jesus in the middle of all we’re involved in and know Him as our refuge!

Colossians 3:17 NKJV
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

That includes our rest. Our zeal for the Lord inspires us to keep up the good fight and go after seeing His Kingdom advanced here on earth. His great love and zeal for us draws us into His rest.

Exodus 33:14 NKJV
And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
