Genesis 12:1 (NKJV) – Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you.”

For Abram to pack up everything and just start walking is an incredible act of faith. Not many people would heed the voice of a foreign God and leave behind everything familiar and comfortable. Abram did. And because of his obedience, God established him as the father of our faith!

Declaration: I decree and declare that I will be obedient to You LORD God! Even if I don’t understand it! I will walk by faith, and not by sight! I will trust You and acknowledge You in all my ways, and You will direct my steps! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
OBEDIENCE TO THE FATHER

One of the greatest compliments of Abraham’s life is that he was called the friend of God. He chose to believe God Almighty, and it was counted to him as righteousness. It’s amazing what faith can do!

Abraham’s faith in God moved him to obey the Lord. Even when it came to sacrificing the son God promised him, Abraham was willing to obey. Fortunately, God treasures our obedience over sacrifice, and Isaac was saved. The Lord instead provided the sacrifice!

Faith in Jesus Christ gets us into the household of faith. Many of us come as servants, not realizing that because we believe, we are empowered to become the sons of God. Jesus said, “No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.”

Just as the first patriarch of faith, we are friends of God. Our faith, which moves us into obedience, has made us righteous before God. Now, through what Jesus Christ has done, we are called the sons of God

How do we, as the family of God, behave? In obedience.
In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another – 1 John 3:10-11 (NKJV)

Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.
– John 14:23 (NIV)
