DEEP IN THOUGHT
Grab hold of a willingness to serve God in your thinking. Just as brother Peter mentioned in 1 Peter 5:2, we have to be of a ready mind, meaning eagerly prepared to serve. If that wasn’t clear enough, he goes on to tell us in verse 8, “Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”
So how are you serving the Lord in your mind today? Are there things you will and will not think about? Do you have time of meditation on God’s Word? If the very course of our life is determined by the things we allow to dwell in our hearts, shouldn’t our hearts be full of the things that Philippians 4:8 lists?
“Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
It is inevitable that our thoughts become words. It is inevitable that our words become actions. Even if we are not the ones acting on our careless words, the kingdom of darkness is all too ready to do so. (Ecclesiastes 10:20)
It’s inevitable that we will be spiritually attacked in the area of our minds at some point this very day, BUT, we do not have to be helpless victims to the mental onslaught. We can be armored up (Ephesians 6:13) and the gatekeepers of our minds, taking captive every thought that rises up against the knowledge of God! (2 Corinthians 10:5)
