TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER – 5/2/2023

1 Peter 5:2 – Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

One sign of a mature Christian is their constant state of readiness. Peter makes it clear: Your mind needs to be ready. To have a ready mind means to be eagerly prepared to serve. Are you eager and prepared to let some thoughts go and let His thoughts in? Instead of remembering what people have done to you, think about how God loves you and what He has done for you. Because of His great love, you can have a mind ready to serve the Lord and His people. He is always with you and His flock is all around you. Be ready!

Declaration: I let God do great things in my thinking so He can do great things in my life.

REDEMPTION SONG

There are eight verses in the Bible that specifically talk about having “a new song.” If it’s a big deal to God, we’d better make it a big deal in our lives and search out the matter.

A new song comes from a new experience in the power of the Holy Spirit. When you have an encounter with Jesus, that’s supposed to be the new dramatic theme to your life – not the fact that you were molested as a child, abandoned, or that you’ve been addicted most of your life.

Now, I’m not belittling that. Those are terrible things, but they should not be the theme of your life like a scratch on a record that keeps playing the same thing over and over again.

“O sing to the LORD a new song, for He has done wonderful things, His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him.” – Psalm 98:1

Each new song should be about a new victory – a new breakthrough. Your life should not be about how you were persecuted, have encountered racists, or that you’ve been poor. Your song should not be about that you went to prison or that you were divorced several times. That’s the song the world sings and it’s not for you.

The dramatic theme to your life is supposed to be about how you are redeemed. God gives you a new song – a redemption song that is all about victory and freedom from that thing that held you captive but no longer has a grip on you.

Sadly, so much of the Body of Christ is stuck like a scratched record repeating over and over again, “My past still defines me. My past still defines me.” It doesn’t have to. The music of your life needs to match the fact that you are redeemed.

Are you redeemed? Are you a new creature because of Jesus Christ? Sing a new song. Put away your history and let the song of your destiny define you.
