TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I Am Love. There is no love without free will. That’s why your freedom is so important to Me. Desire freedom and run from that which enslaves you into My loving arms. Freedom and love go hand-in-hand.

OUT OF CAPTIVITY

Baptism is a big deal, I promise you, it is. And just like everything else we do as Christians, we have a tendency to downplay things so we don’t seem too “churchy” or weird. Baptism shouldn’t be one of those things.

Baptism is not about when you go into the water. It’s about when you come out. Let’s unpack this.

Baptism is a picture of the Hebrew people leaving the bondage of Egypt. They were leaving behind that thing that owed them. God opened the Red Sea for them to walk across dry land to their Promised Land.

When Pharaoh’s armies chased them into the water, God said, “Nope. Not today you devil from hell. He made those waters close up and destroy the enemy while His people were safe on the other side – free from their captivity.

That’s what you’re doing in baptism. Leaving that thing that owns you behind. Debt, despair, depression, bad relationships, addiction, fear, an ungodly lifestyle – whatever you want to bury at the bottom of the sea.

Pray and think about what you’re going to leave in that water. Ask God how you can meet Him in that place and how the heavens can be opened unto you. Just like Jesus, ask how you can hear Him speak and how the Spirit of the Lord can descend on you like a dove as you come up out of the water.

And here’s one last thing to think about: not only did the Red Sea keep the Egyptians from going after God’s people, the Red Sea kept God’s people from going back into slavery. Sometimes, the devil you know looks better than the angel you don’t. Don’t run back to that mess!

Don’t make baptism nominal. Don’t make it about a ritual because it’s so much bigger than that. Baptism is about something Jesus Christ has offered you and you need to go all the way with it.

Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity… – Jeremiah 20:12-14
