RECOGNIZE THE ENEMY?
I find it funny that everyone thinks the devil and Jesus are in some kind of head-to-head competition – the devil is not in competition with Jesus. The devil is our enemy – yours and mine.
“But Pastor Troy, the Bible says he was jealous of God and that’s why he was cast out of heaven.” Is that really what the Bible says? Check this out.
How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” – Isaiah 14:12-14
The devil is a created being, a cosmic punk, and he’s a knuckle head. He may have been the most beautiful angel in the heavens, but he was still an angel. When God created mankind, He literally breathed His life and His Spirit into us. We, not angels, are made in His image, therefore we are the stars of God and we are the assembly the devil wants to dethrone.
When he said, “I will make myself like the Most High,” he was admitting his jealousy of us because we are like the Most High God! That’s why it says in Revelation 12 that Satan is the “accuser of the brethren.” He’s in front of the throne of God all day and night making his case for why we are inferior to him.
Let me tell you this: the devil is not superior to us. He is not so big and powerful. You are I are the ones who are big and powerful and he’s tricked us into thinking we’re subject to him. Remember, he is the father of lies. His biggest lie is for us to believe his real enemy is the Lord Jesus. Nope. It’s us.
We have the power of God. We have the Holy Spirit, the blood of Jesus covering us, and we have the promise. It’s time to take on our enemy and bring the goodness of God to a dying world. It’s time to recognize the enemy and fight!
