June 6, 2021 – D-DAY
Pastor Troy Brewer, OpenDoor Church, Burleson, Texas

Today is June 6. 177 years ago today, the D-Day Invasion of Normandy took place.

Codenamed Operation Overlord, the battle began on June 6, 1944, also known as D-Day, when some 156,000 American, British and Canadian forces landed on five beaches along a 50-mile stretch of the heavily fortified coast of France’s Normandy region. The invasion was one of the largest amphibious military assaults in history and required extensive planning.

Prior to D-Day, the Allies conducted a large-scale deception campaign designed to mislead the Germans about the intended invasion target. By late August 1944, all of northern France had been liberated, and by the following spring the Allies had defeated the Germans. The Normandy landings have been called the beginning of the end of war in Europe.

He didn’t call for a special “Day of Prayer.” He called for continued prayer. He knew that by God’s Grace, and the righteousness of our cause, that our sons would triumph. And he knew that with God’s blessing, we would prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy.

77 years ago today on June 6 or 66.

77 and 66 are interesting numbers to me.

66: When God is a faithful witness in humanity
There are six words in Hebrew and in Greek that we translate Man

The Bible, written in Hebrew and in Greek, has 66 books in it.

The word MAN occurs SIX times in Genesis chapter SIX. (verses 3,5,6, 2 times in 7, 9)
The word MAN occurs SIX times in II Chronicles chapter SIX. (verses 5,16,22,29,30,36)
The word MAN occurs SIX times in Galatians chapter SIX. (verses 1,3,4,5,7,17)

There are seven dispensations in the Bible. MAN is in control of SIX. The seventh dispensation (the millennium) the Lord is in control.

The seven dispensations are:

  1. Innocence – from the creation to the fall – MAN’s
  2. Conscience – from the fall to the Flood – MAN’s
  3. Human Government – from the Flood to the call of Abraham – MAN’s
  4. Promise – from the call of Abraham to the giving of the Law at Sinai under Moses – MAN’s
  5. Law – from Sinai to Calvary – MAN’s
  6. Grace – from Calvary to the Kingdom – MAN’s
  7. Kingdom – the 1000-year Messianic Era – GOD’s.

MAN is the SIXTH word in SIX verses in Romans (2:1, 2:3, 2:6, 3:28, 5:7, 6:6)

A witness of or by God’s Spirit: 77

Jesus is the 77th name from God in Luke’s genealogy at the
beginning of his book.
• The word “church” and the phrase “house of God” appear
exactly 77 times in Scripture.

There is no kingdom advancement without warfare

Matthew 16:18
And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.

You need to know that when you were born again, part of your Faith package came with the God-given ability to crash the gates of hell and advance the kingdom of heaven into brand new places.

Your King is a warrior king
Divine Invader

Because the church has a minimal understanding of King and Kingdom and the warfare and violence that goes with advancement …

I think the church is a lot better at foxhole christianity.

Where we just sit and hope for deliverance from somebody else and that we don’t get hurt.

“We are not going to dig foxholes and wait for the enemy to come shooting at us. We are going to move ahead, and move fast.”
“When you dig a foxhole, you dig a grave. When you are in that foxhole and fire at the enemy, he knows your exact location…We will keep moving and the enemy will always hit where we have been and not where we are.”
– General George S. Patton

Unfortunately, because of the lack of a value for advancement, the whole Christian world has been much better at trying to meet God and present our case to the world from where we used to be and not from where we are supposed to be.

Patton’s theory was that if the enemy was constantly under attack, there would not be any need to defend. He realized that the force moving in offensive warfare had an advantage over the defending forces. He said, “We will fight on our terms and we will win.”

In spiritual warfare, if you understand the objective of warfare is the defeat of the enemy, you will not be easily reduced to a defensive position.
To gain total victory, offensive fronts are required.

Matthew 11:12 (KJV)
And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

Matthew 11:13 (New Living Translation)
And from the time John the Baptist began preaching until now, the Kingdom of Heaven has been forcefully advancing, and violent people are attacking it.

Everything changed with John the Baptist, from defensive to offensive. Now the Kingdom advances through the violent warfare of Kingdom people attacking the enemies ground and claiming it for Jesus.

Once John’s ministry began, things changed.
John the Baptist is a Jewish prophet and a christian saint.
He was the true high priest by birthright, as the son of Zechariah.
He is both Old Testament and New Testament.
Jesus said there was nobody else like him. He was uniquely supernatural (Matthew 11).
The Bible said he came in the spirit of Elijah (that’s all about warfare) Luke 1:17
He pointed out King Jesus as the man who takes away the sins of the world (that’s warfare). He doesn’t cover it up but takes it away. That’s warfare.

And with that business came the business of heaven invading earth, and that’s the warfare Jesus is talking about.

Jesus may have come to demonstrate the Father and His love, but make no mistake: Jesus is a warrior. He’s the Captain of the Lord’s Armies (Joshua 5:14) and He means business. He’s not playing.

There is no kingdom advancement without warfare.

Psalm 66 (Praise to God for His Awesome Works)
Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth! 2 Sing out the honor of His name; Make His praise glorious.
3 Say to God, “How awesome are Your works! Through the greatness of Your power Your enemies shall submit themselves to You. 4 All the earth shall worship You and sing praises to You; They shall sing praises to Your name.” Selah

Psalm 44 (Redemption Remembered in Present Dishonor)
We have heard with our ears, O God, Our fathers have told us, The deeds You did in their days, In days of old: 2 You drove out the nations with Your hand, But them You planted; You afflicted the peoples, and cast them out. 3 For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, Nor did their own arm save them; But it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance,
Because You favored them. 4 You are my King, O God; Command victories for Jacob. 5 Through You we will push down our enemies; Through Your name we will trample those who rise up against us. 6 For I will not trust in my bow, nor shall my sword save me. 7 But You have saved us from our enemies, and have put to shame those who hated us. 8 In God we boast all day long, and praise Your name forever. Selah
