INFLUENCE: an ethereal fluid held to flow from the stars and to affect the actions of humans

You are a star!

Job 38:31

Can you bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?

Psalms 19

The heavens declare the glory of God;

And the firmament shows His handiwork.

2 Day unto day utters speech,

And night unto night reveals knowledge.

3 There is no speech nor language

Where their voice is not heard.

4 Their line has gone out through all the earth,

And their words to the end of the world.

In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,

5 Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,

And rejoices like a strong man to run its race.

6 Its rising is from one end of heaven,

And its circuit to the other end;

And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

THE MAGIC OF MOVIES AND DRAMA

How do filmmakers draw us into the drama and keep us riveted to the screen? How does film editing link events in an often seamless manner? How do movies drive our emotions instilling suspense, laughter, horror, sadness, and surprise along the way? Why are movies so compelling?

Psychocinematics: discovering the magic of movies

The visual

The story the character development

The antagonist and the protagonist

One of the main reasons you and I love our favorite movies and love our favorite characters has to do with their magical ability to say the absolute perfect thing at the absolute perfect moment.

The impact of being able to say the right thing at the right moment is a big part of the magic of movies.

I’m not just taking about “Yo Adrian,” “Go ahead. Make my day” or “Elementary, my dear Watson” or even “I’m your huckleberry.” I’m talking about stuff they say that makes you think, “Oh, I love how awesome that dude is!!!”

I’m talking about well thought out, genius lines.

THE PRINCESS BRIDE

“Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”

STAR WARS

When being introduced to Mos Isley: “You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.”

TRUE GRIT

Lucky Ned Pepper: Your friend Rooster does not collect many prisoners.

Mattie Ross: He is not my friend. He has abandoned me to a congress of louts.

Lucky Ned Pepper: You do not varnish your opinions

THE TWO TOWERS

“Through fire… and water… From the lowest dungeon to the highest peak, I fought him, the Balrog of Morgoth. Until at last, I threw down my enemy and smote his ruin upon the mountainside. Darkness took me. And I strayed out of thought and time. Stars wheeled overhead and everyday was as long as a life-age of the earth. But it was not the end. I felt life in me again. I have been sent back, until my task is done.”

The vocabulary of Shakespeare:

…This, with his manifest vocabulary of 31,000 words, added up to a well-supportable estimated total vocabulary of at least 66,000 words – or perhaps something closer to 64,000,…

Do you remember when I said when it comes to the magic of movies, a big part of the magic is the uncanny ability of a character to be able to say the perfect thing at the exact moment?

Do you know why that’s magical? Because every human being has a God-given need to be able to have the vocabulary to answer every moment in life with confidence and power. And we don’t have it. It’s one of the reasons education is so important.

BUT there is a huge God-sized hole in every human being (Ecclesiastes 3:11) that can only be filled with the word of God Himself.

AND THIS IS WHY YOU MUST BE ABLE TO ANSWER THE WORLD BECAUSE YOU ARE INFLUENCED BY THE WORD.

God knew you couldn’t figure it out so He gave the Word. The exact words to answer anything and everything with confidence and power.

GOD WROTE THE PERFECT LINES FOR YOU!

There is no way to measure the impact the Bible can have on the lives of its readers. However, Psalm 19:7-14 is a premier passage for understanding the benefits of Scripture.

Do you just feel stupid all the time IN your mind or you can never keep up with current events? FIND OUT WHAT THE WORD OF GOD SAYS ABOUT THAT AND SAY THAT!

Psalms 19:7-14

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;

The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;

8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;

The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;

9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;

The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

10 More to be desired are they than gold,

Yea, than much fine gold;

Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned,

And in keeping them there is great reward.

12 Who can understand his errors?

Cleanse me from secret faults.

13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins;

Let them not have dominion over me.

Then I shall be blameless,

And I shall be innocent of great transgression.

14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight,

O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

“If no other book were ever written or published but I had the Bible,” Kay Arthur said, “I would have everything I need to know.”

You’ve got to believe this is God’s book.

1 Peter 3:15

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

The power of predetermined RESPONSES

Read the script, STICK TO IT and say the lines! RESPECT THE DIRECTOR!
